The most prominent environment summit that has been running for more than decades brought Daffa and Nala as Indonesian Youth Delegates such a tremendous, gregarious, and unforgettable experience and moment in their life. It was such a life-changing moment for both of them.
Daffa and Nala are the Indonesian Youth Delegates representing Fridays For Future Indonesia. Both of them are supported financially by FFF MAPA which is the sub-organisation of FFF which have the duty to defend and brought people from most developing countries in the world to take part and be of changemakers in terms of environmental issues, human rights, and climate justice.
Indonesia almost never had any youth delegation for COP events, even for another international conference which most Indonesians are seeking for their funding by themselves. And fortunately, Daffa and Nala are fortunate enough to represent youth voices on the global stage. Both Daffa and Nala were engaged with a lot of climate activism works on the local, national, and global stage, so the perspectives they brought to COP were completely diverse and complex but understandable through the way they carried on the topic.
As Daffa and Nala are both climate activists who participated in numerous activities, climate camps, and other kinds of activities. They brought the core value of the discussion they ever had in the previous experience combined with the sharing, grievance, and discussion with cross-sectoral climate expertise. For instance, Nala spoke up about climate anxiety, the things that young people in Indonesia worried about, and many more in several webinars and Instagram live she had.
Besides, Daffa was invited by the Malaysia Government and UNICEF Malaysia to their pavilion to speak and discuss the role of youth in the climate crisis, particularly from the perspective of youth climate activists who were engaged with diverse and numerous communities where they live in a vulnerable area and affected by climate change for about decades. Likewise, both of them are interviewed by several media, and one of them is DW from Germany. They were involved in an interview session carried by DW Journalist to speak about climate activism and what’s the core value that they want to bring up to the people worldwide as an agent of changemakers.
In the end, COP27 has massively changed their life in all ways. The meaningful participation they have been through hopefully could impact dozens or even thousands of people to do action on the ground. And, of course, as they have been returned home, they will be continuing the works as a climate activist.
